it’s september again which means back to school! daddy, lily and i got to see the girl’s off on their first day. this is the first year that they were both excited to go. it’s always bitter-sweet for me. i love having all the girl’s home but feel confident even though I miss them that this a wonderful school and they are receiving a fantastic education, so i guess I can share them.
i am however thankful that i have lily home with me, because i am definitely not ready to be at home without a little one.
fall is starting to show it’s colors and we are enjoying the beginning of this cozy season. puzzles and legos come back out, the fireplace is used again, fall scented candles burn, cuddly throw blankets lying around everywhere. the artwork and schoolwork begin to decorate my kitchen walls. i start cooking comfort foods, girls make weekly request for daddy’s famous apple crisp. we just go into hibernate mode. the weather here has been beautiful still, so we are savoring our time outside.
we just celebrated our sweet lily love’s first birthday. i look forward to writing her a birthday letter here soon and recap her first year. she has grown the hearts of each and every one of us in so many ways. i also look forward to sharing her first twelve month photos that were taken by a very talented photographer. i am so grateful to have these precious keepsakes.
we have already made a trip to the apple cider mill for donuts and apple cider-yum! my family is excited to join dear friends for our annual pumpkin outing in a few weeks. what tops the list on this fun day is apple cider, more donuts:) apple & pumpkin picking, wagon ride, corn maze, all the good stuff!
as far as a home building update things are steadily moving ahead and as fast as the architect can go. daddy and i recently had a meeting of the minds with the builder and architect out at the property. We are done with the floor plans, so it’s mainly about diving into more material choices. this is definitely my favorite part. another meeting is scheduled soon in the windy city!
fall is pretty fabulous around here and we are excited to embrace all our autumn traditions. i hope you find your warm and cozy, and settle in with sweet nostalgia.
honeycrisp apples, starbuck’s pumkpkin spice lattes, lily’s birthday, favorite cardigan, a family fall drive, white mums.
